The Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE), Sikkim is an open schooling board established under the Sikkim Act 2020 to provide flexible education up to the senior secondary level, including academic, skill, and vocational courses. Recognized by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) under the Ministry of Education, its certificates are valid nationwide, equivalent to other state and national boards.

BOSSE aims to promote inclusive and accessible education through open and distance learning, offering Secondary, Senior Secondary, and Skill & Vocational programs to support higher education and career opportunities.

Secondary Programme -
Equivalent to Class 10th, with a minimum age requirement of 15 years (before exams). Students can choose subjects freely from the BOSSE list, with at least one language being compulsory.

Senior Secondary Programmes -
Equivalent to Class 12th. Eligible for students who have passed Secondary (10th) and must submit a self-attested certificate. Flexible subject selection is allowed, with at least one language mandatory.

Skill and Vocational Education -
Focused on employability and skill development as per NEP 2020. BOSSE offers industry-relevant vocational courses, allowing students to combine academic and skill-based subjects to enhance career opportunities.

  • Passport Issued by Govt. of India
    OR
  • Original Transfer Certificate/School Leaving Certificate showing applicant's date of birth, issued by the school last attended by the applicant. In case of Govt. schools, the Transfer Certificate/School Leaving Certificate should be signed by the Principal while in the case of Private schools, it should also be countersigned by the competent education authority of the State/or District Education Officer.
    OR
  • Aadhaar Card issued by the concerned Agency of Govt. of India.
Block I12th class 
  • 15 years as on 31st July 2025 (born on or before 31/07/2010)
  • 15 years as on 31st January 2026 (born on or before 31/01/2011)
  • The Certificate of Matriculation/ Secondary Examination having a record of the Date of Birth. (No other proof of age will be accepted for Sr. Secondary admission).
Who can apply:
  • Students who have not completed school elsewhere
  • Fresh learners wanting to study through open schooling

Final examinations are held in Twice a year. The certificates and mark sheets are issued to successful students on qualifying the examinations.
